from late summer 2022

With around 20,000 exhibits on 14,000 square meters on the second and third floors of the Humboldt Forum, the presentations of the globally important collections of the Ethnological Museum and Museum of Asian Art provide an overview of the world's art and cultures spanning epochs and continents.

In September 2021, the first part of the collection presentations was initially opened: the West Wing with the famous boats from Oceania, reconstructed Buddhist cult caves from the region around the Silk Road, the exhibition area Japan with the walk-in tea house, and parts of the Africa collection.

The opening of the East Wing will follow in late summer 2022. Highlights include the holdings from the central and southern Andean region, the history of the Afro-Brazilian diaspora in the Amazon region, Khmer art, or the global diversity of Islam.
