World-class soloist, overwhelming composer, outstanding bandleader and Grammy-nominated saxophonist: Chris Potter, who draws on a huge melodic pool with astonishing effortlessness and surprising imaginative power, is one of the most influential and complete saxophonists of his generation.

Chris has emerged as one of the leading musical personalities of his generation. Critics and fans alike celebrate Potter for his musical down-to-earthness and vibrant sense of swing, as well as his sheer boundless creativity. Not for nothing is Chris regularly listed as an absolute authority on the modern tenor saxophone.

The New Yorker calls Potter "a tenor player reminiscent of Joe Henderson at his best, who puts his considerable technique at the service of the music rather than the spectacle".

He has worked with almost all the renowned jazz musicians of our time, plays all over the world and is also a sought-after and accomplished teacher. In recent years, Potter has devoted himself to a wide variety of formats; his concert last year with a quartet is still fresh in our minds. Tonight promises to be just as memorable when Potter invites two of the hottest and most influential contemporary players to redefine the saxophone trio format.

Craig Taborn, born in Detroit, is one of the most active and fascinating pianists of our time. His ascent into the higher spheres of jazz began with his work in James Carter's band; in the course of the 1990s, collaborations with some of the most sensational youngsters such as Nate Smith, Wayne Krantz, David Binney and Adam Rogers followed. Since then, he has become one of the most influential figures on the jazz scene. He has expanded the spectrum of jazz by adding electronic sound generators, plays Moog and organ and is also active in the field of techno music alongside jazz. He can also look back on albums for the legendary ECM label and numerous awards such as the Down-Beat Critics Poll 2011.

Eric Harland is without doubt already one of the most important drummers in jazz history. Wynton Marsalis discovered him at a workshop and offered him a scholarship to the Manhattan School of Music. Since he has been in New York, he has developed into one of the best drummers, which is confirmed not only by Down Beat's readers' and critics' surveys (which already put him on a par with Max Roach, Roy Haynes or Elvin Jones), but also by numerous prizes and the list of musicians with whom he has recorded: McCoy Tyner, Charles Lloyd, Dave Holland, Kenny Garrett, John Swana, Gilad Hekselman, Aaron Parks, Terrence Blanchard Ravi Coltrane, Jason Moran and countless more. The New York Times noted:"He sets the rhythm for the future of jazz."
