250 Jahre Sankt Hedwigs-Kathedrale
The Catholic St Hedwig's Cathedral in Berlin is the first Catholic place of worship to be built in Berlin after the Reformation and serves as the bishop's seat of the Archdiocese of Berlin. After careful renovation and redesign, it is scheduled to reopen at the end of 2024. To mark the 250th anniversary of the church's consecration, the choirs of the cathedral will perform the Requiem by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
Texts by Cathedral Provost Bernhard Lichtenberg, who had prayed daily "for the persecuted Jews" from the night of the Reich pogrom in 1938 onwards and died on 5 November 1943 on transport to the Dachau concentration camp, will be read.
