As part of Berlin Science Week 2026
As part of Berlin Science Week, researchers from the Technical University of Munich will offer fascinating insights into their work and demonstrate how a natural raw material can be transformed into surprising materials.
From the microscopic structure of individual fibres, through paper production, to Cottonid – a particularly strong, plastic-like material made from cellulose – the evening will take you on a journey through the diverse possibilities of modern materials research. The question of how cellulose foams might replace conventional insulation materials in the future will also be explored. And it won’t just be theory: using numerous material samples and a light microscope, visitors will be able to discover, compare and feel the different structures for themselves.
An evening for anyone interested in paper, new materials and sustainable research – vivid, surprising and hands-on. With Weixuan Wang, Technical University of Munich, Chair of Biogenic Polymers.
- The event is suitable for anyone aged 12 and over.
- Participation is free of charge. Registration is required at programm@hausdespapiers.com.
- Three days packed with material knowledge, the joy of experimentation and encounters between craft, art and science, with a SPECIAL ENTRY FEE of 7 euros instead of 10 euros.
