No place in Potsdam is more British than Babelsberg Palace and Park: Victorian architecture, English gardens, Pleasureground - the entire area is a declaration of love to Great Britain and an expression of the close, not only family ties between the Prussian and British royal houses.

Relations that continue to this day, especially in the media city of Babelsberg, which traditionally has strong ties to the English film industry. With Potsdam's recognition as Germany's first UNESCO City of Film, Babelsberg - the largest district of the state capital - combines history and modernity in the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Reason enough for the German Film Orchestra Babelsberg, as representative of the local media industry, together with the Prussian Palaces and Gardens Foundation Berlin-Brandenburg to present an experience day of a special kind in Babelsberg Palace and Park under the title "A British Day"!

On this day, the palace and the park will be even more 'British' than usual: chamber music concerts and staged readings will be presented in the tradition of the English "Proms" at the most important locations of the World Heritage Park as well as in the dance hall of the palace. Historical texts and letters will be read aloud, recalling Queen Victoria's stay in Babelsberg in the summer of 1858. Experts will accompany the guests on their musical-literary promenade through the park during the "Proms to Go" and provide information about the significance of the garden artwork and its buildings.
