Since 2005, Bridge Markland has been dedicating her classic in the box series to the classics of German theater literature. She virtuously juggles faithful lines of text and pop music quotations and at the same time subverts established roles.

She switches rapidly between performance, puppetry and playback and dusts off the classic material for a wide audience.

At the same time, her one-woman plays are always gender performances with puppets as antagonists. The pieces are very popular and have toured as a repertoire through German-speaking countries for years. From 2007 – 2016 also through the USA and Canada.

The classic in the box series is being expanded this year to include Büchner's “Woyzeck”. Since the play is unfinished and only exists as a fragment due to his early death, the scenes are neither numbered nor divided into acts - what makes the production exciting is the reference to today, supported by pop songs from many generations and classic film music.
