Under the motto "Born in the G.D.R.", the DDR Museum will open the museum doors for a colorful special program on the Long Night of Museums 2023.

Born in the G.D.R. - Lange Nacht der Museen im DDR-Museum
The title comes from 1989 by the Cottbus punk band Sandow and was an answer to the song "Born in the U.S.A." by Bruce Springsteen from 1984. From popular dance music and underground to classic workers' songs, there will be something for every musical taste on this evening be.
Highlights from the 1988 film »Flüstern und Schreien« are shown in the cinema, a documentary road movie through the GDR's underground music scene. Director Dieter Schumann accompanies bands like Feeling B and Chicoreé on their concert tours across a country in turmoil.

Music quiz with record entertainers Eric & Patrick
The collection team Eric Strohmeier-Wimmer and Patrick Opitz slip into the role of record entertainers and will conduct an amusing GDR music quiz with the visitors at the party table.

Short tour with Sören Marotz - the exhibition manager of the DDR Museum will lead you to the most interesting exhibits on the subject of music and also include the Bruce Springsteen diorama in the tour.
