A book presentation with Carsten Gansel
An extremely enjoyable evening is promised. An extraordinary literary experiment takes centre stage.
‘Blitz aus heiterm Himmel’ - an anthology published in 1975, long out of print and now finally reissued, in which eight well-known authors from the GDR - including Christa Wolf and Sarah Kirsch - explore a provocative idea.
What happens when men and women suddenly wake up in reversed gender roles? They ventured a playful thought experiment about love, identity and social expectations - in a country where equality was a constitutional goal, but often manifested itself quite differently in everyday private life. Literary scholar Prof Carsten Gansel, who edited the anthology, talks to publicist Irmtraud Gutschke about the book, its creation and the uncomfortable question: How equal are we really?
