The orchestra’s open-air season finale

The Berlin Philharmonic, one of the world’s leading
orchestras, has a special tradition. Every year they play the last open-air
concert of the season on the Waldbühne stage. The classical open-air event
always takes place at the end of June and is regarded as the public’s absolute

This is probably due to the very special atmosphere during the concert: under the direction of alternating high-ranking conductors, the ensemble’s musicians celebrate the end of their season under a starry summer sky and the Waldbühne’s 20,000 visitors join in the celebrations. If you can’t be there in person, you don’t have to miss the concert: It is also livestreamed on the internet.

The Berlin Philharmonic’s Waldbühne Concert 2022

The Berliner Philharmoniker and Kirill Petrenko end the season with powerful Russian colors. Sergei Rachmaninov's Second Piano Concerto is sometimes yearning, sometimes rebellious. Star pianist Daniil Trifonov is the perfect interpreter to make the vehement virtuosity and the fragile tenderness of this music audible in equal measure. Modest Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition will also be heard.

Unique natural scenery meets classical music

The Waldbühne in the south of Berlin offers an incomparable panorama: the valley in which the stage is located is surrounded by a dense forest area. This natural setting is particularly beautiful in summer, when the Berlin Philharmonic concert takes place. When the sun sets, the interplay between this romantic setting and the classical sounds of the philharmonic orchestra is particularly harmonious. And everyone also brings a delicious picnic to the Waldbühne to savour while dining out on classical music.

Season finale under the Berlin sky

The last concert of the season for the Berlin Philharmonic radiates a very special atmosphere. Fans of classical music look forward to the traditional classical music event under a starry sky months in advance. Many visitors even come again and again, because the programme and the conductors change every year and promise a richly diverse concert experience at the highest level.
