With Tanja-Bianca Schmidt - Tandem Guided Tour

In the tour, Afro-German art historian Tanja-Bianca Schmidt follows the traces of black histor(ies) in BERLIN GLOBAL. In dialogue with the participants, she talks about black activists and feminist voices as well as depictions of black bodies in the media. She also addresses subjects such as the repatriation of the Benin bronzes or the life of black people in the GDR.  In doing so, she establishes connections between Germany’s colonial history and the present day.

The tandem guided tour is led by two parties. An educator and an expert or expert team guide you through selected exhibition areas.
The invited experts determine the subject matter and bring their own varied professional and personal backgrounds into the conversation. They may be a midwife, artist, small-scale entrepreneur, biologist, historian, archaeologist, psychologist, fire fighter or conservator. People who work as volunteers or who have provided curatorial support in the exhibition will also be invited. This makes every tandem guided tour individual and unique.
