Lecture by Alexander Walther with a musical contribution by Jalda Rebling
January 27 marks the anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz concentration camp by the Red Army in 1945. Shortly before the commemoration day, historian Alexander Walther will give a lecture and Chasan Jalda Rebling will give a musical performance at the JMB.
Walther will talk about the commemoration of January 27 in the GDR and the role of the so-called camp work communities within the "Committee of Anti-Fascist Resistance Fighters".
Jalda Rebling initiated and led the Days of Yiddish Culture, a project of the UNESCO World Cultural Decade 1987 - 1997, which took place on January 27.
