Two siblings, sixteen months apart. Their childhood wasn't so bad. The age difference hardly mattered, they wore the same clothes and even the same hairstyle.

Even though they were brother and sister, and still are. They belonged together, they were inseparable. As a child you accept, adapt, to norms, fashions, institutions, as a teenager you question them. Or not. The social environment brings pressure, and suddenly decisions are made. And what if they turn out differently? What then? What language does one speak then?

In On Mars, the World Looks Like This, author Patty Kim Hamilton shows a sibling relationship. Brother and sister. And the influence of political discourse on personal relationships.

On Mars, the World Looks Like This is a world premiere and debut. Marque-Lin developed Unknown Frequencies, a performance about beauty and the protective power of noise, as a performer at Ballhaus Naunynstraße together with Emilio Cordero Checa. Now she directs for the first time.

The dramatic text of Auf dem Mars sieht die Welt so aus (On Mars, the world looks like this) was created as part of the writing workshop Unconventional Signs at Ballhaus Naunynstraße in the 2020 / 21 season. After Abdruckkörper by Yatri Niehaus and Im Strom by Atilla Oener, this is the third theater text created in the writing workshop to receive its world premiere at the house.
