Combined tour with the Brücke Museum

Immerse yourself in the fascinating world of weaving and basketry- two craft techniques that combine strands of material in a unique way. Together the participants will explore what makes them different and what unites them.

The first part of the tour begins in the Brücke-Museum, where the impressive tapestries by textile artist Lise Gujer take centre stage. Find out more about her collaboration with the Brücke artist Ernst Ludwig Kirchner and be inspired by her combination of artistic expression and craftsmanship.

The tour then takes us to the Museum of European Cultures, where the exhibition ‘ALL HANDS ON: Basketry’ sheds light on the intangible cultural heritage of basket making. Discover how this traditional technique builds bridges between historical knowledge and modern innovations.

The tour will be accompanied by Ximena G. Toro and Luna Weis (Assistant Curators, Brücke-Museum) and Sofia Botvinnik (Curator, Museum of European Cultures). They will provide exciting insights into both exhibitions and present the similarities and differences between the techniques.

Look forward to a special encounter with craftsmanship, precision and artistic expression - and to an inspiring change of perspective between two museums!
