Annett Hardegen 'make me afraid! come closer'
make me afraid! Komm näher is the possible narrative of a love-hate relationship, about the temptations that identity promises and about the inability to fit into the respective offers.

Not being able to take on an identity, no matter how enticing the images and promises seem, is a form of sociopathic refusal. And this impossibility amounts to wounding.
Not fitting in, not belonging, is a pain. A gap, a wound that remains open. And just as a cut in the flesh harbors within itself a striving for healing, a never-ending longing tempts to cover everything like a plaster. Every image, every template, every grouping could be the scab on the wound.
And each offer marks a boundary. Every image we enter, in which we try to resemble, is a door that slams shut.
mach mir angst! tries to transform the gap in the ego into a rupture that is inherent in the images. As a kind of cover. As a mantle, as a protective cover that nestles around us, that conceals us. Cover(s) is a decision to move away from us, is a movement away from us, into a generality to which the original belongs. We renounce originality and move in the free space of a non-identical simulation. Covers are a memory apparatus and the space of a self-superimposition without stability.
