180 years ago, the participants of the Royal Prussian Expedition set out on an adventurous journey to vast areas of present-day Egypt and Sudan. To mark this occasion, the Egyptian Museum is presenting an exhibition that categorizes this state-funded, large-scale scientific enterprise as a child of the 19th century.
The exhibition presents the successes that can be attributed to the indispensable teamwork of all members of the expedition and which had a lasting influence on the field of Egyptology. In addition, old museum holdings and archival materials from various Berlin institutions will be linked with new research results, and methods of working on site will be illuminated alongside the everyday life of the expedition.
A special exhibition of the Egyptian Museum and Papyrus Collection - National Museums in Berlin in cooperation with the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities, Project Archive Ancient Egyptian Dictionary and the Ernst Litfass School, OSZ Media Design and Media Technology
