As part of the exhibition Access Kafka
A woman becomes a vegetarian, eventually refuses to eat anything at all and believes she can transform herself into a plant.
In addition to the thematic proximity to Kafka's stories such as The Metamorphosis or A Hunger Artist, Han Kang's novel The Vegetarian (Nobel Prize for Literature 2024, International Man Booker Prize 2016) impresses with its complexity.
The organizers would like to explore this in more detail - together with the publisher Gunnar Cynybulk (Kanon-Verlag), who discovered Han Kang for the German book market, and Monika Sommerer, head of the JMB library.
