The first democracy was established in Athens 2,500 years ago. A revolutionary process, because in all other Greek states there were monarchies or oligarchies at that time. The lecture series describes how democracy developed, how it functioned, what advantages and disadvantages it had, and how it perished.
What lessons can be learned from ancient democracy for modern democracies?
