"Twelve Angry Men" deals with the deliberations and confirmation of the executions of Deniz Gezmiş, Yusuf Arslan, and Hüseyin İnan in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey.

This play, based on the Grand National Assembly's transcripts, is a kind of documentary. Originally conceived as a six-hour documentary by its author, Murat Karahüseyinoğlu, and later adapted for the stage, it was inspired by the film "Twelve Angry Men."

The deliberations on the death sentences began on March 10, 1972. The military court that had sentenced Deniz Gezmiş, Yusuf Arslan, and Hüseyin İnan to death deemed it appropriate to leave the decision in these matters to the public conscience, history, and the discretion and authority of the Grand National Assembly, and referred the case to it. The executions were authorized by parliament, published in the official gazette on May 5, 1972, with the president's signature, and carried out on the morning of May 6.

The statements of the members of parliament shed light on how the ideas and the movement around Deniz Gezmiş, Yusuf Arslan, and Hüseyin İnan were perceived, defended, or condemned by the ruling power and the circles of the time.

"...for young people who, even during their school years, stood up for their country and their people..."
