Football reigns supreme in the An der Alten Försterei stadium. In no other stadium do fans get closer to the action on the pitch. Perhaps the proximity to the grass on the pitch is one reason why the fans of 1. FC Union Berlin are truly a close-knit community. During games, the battle cry “Iron Union” rings out from thousands of throats, and the fans also helped and are actively helping with the renovation of the venerable stadium.
