Ankerklause
Ship ahoy!
The Ankerklause on Maybachufer is one of those legendary Berlin bars that you never forget. Half pub, half sailor's fantasy, it looks like a relic from another era - with wooden panelling, colourful fairy lights, maritime memorabilia and a jukebox that provides the soundtrack to the night. From here, you have a direct view of the water and the colourful hustle and bustle along the shore.
Located directly on the canal and by the bridge on Kottbusser Damm, the Ankerklause is one of those typical Kreuzkölln locations where Kreuzberg and Neukölln merge into one another. The clientele is also a good mix: regulars, artists and night owls who come here to enjoy the last rays of sunshine. Whether it's actually at sunset at the tables outside the door or deep into the night with a last beer in the lowered dining room with a view of the canal - the Ankerklause is a place of transitions: between day and night, between two neighbourhoods and between nostalgia and the present. Quentin Tarantino is said to have ended up here while filming - and that fits: The bar has something of a film scene that you would like to relive.
Tip: Maybachufer is also home to the Nowkoelln Flowmarkt, a lively design flea market on the second Sunday of every month, where you can buy beautiful and used, casual and tasty items.
