Discover Berlin's green side

More than 2,500 parks and gardens in Berlin show you the green side of this relaxed metropolis. One of the capital's most attractive recreational areas is undoubtedly Britzer Garten, which hosted the Federal Horticultural Show in 1985 and is home to Europe's largest sundial. In Kreuzberg you will find Viktoriapark. The Gardens of the World in Marzahn combine extraordinary garden art from Asia and Europe. The first public park was created in Friedrichshain in 1846. Today, Volkspark Friedrichshain attracts visitors with its numerous green spaces, romantic fairy tale fountain, beer garden and open-air cinema.

In addition to its large wooded area, Volkspark Wuhlheide also offers a stage and a leisure and recreation centre. The former Tempelhof Airport offers plenty of open space: joggers, skaters, dog owners and families feel at home here, flying kites or picnicking together. In the immediate vicinity of the Brandenburg Gate is the Tiergarten, which, at 210 hectares, is larger than Hyde Park and, as a sight in its own right, invites Berliners and visitors alike to stroll and relax.
