Did you know that most famous Christmas songs, from ‘White Christmas’ to ‘Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer’, were written by Jewish people? Or that Theodor Herzl used to light candles on the Christmas tree for his children?

The Jewish Festival of Lights, Hanukkah, falls during the run-up to Christmas this year, and the Jewish cultural ship MS Goldberg invites you to a sparkling ‘Weihnukka’ special.

The programme features Hanukkah classics such as ‘Maos Zur’, ‘Jewish’ Christmas jingles like ‘Winter Wonderland’, as well as jazzy evergreens by Jewish-American composers and lyricists such as ‘The Man I Love’. There’ll also be ‘Chrismukkah’ stories and anecdotes about the evening’s songwriters, such as Irvin Berlin and Jonny Marks – and mulled wine and sufganiot at the bar.

  • Featuring Julie Wolff (vocals), Judith Kessler (lyrics), Jotham Bleiberg (trumpet) and Daniel Stawinski (piano)
