Film
At a time when anti-Semitism in Germany is becoming more visible and more radical once again, the film focuses not only on those affected, but also on the wider society – on its reactions, on its refusal to show empathy, on its detachment and silence.
The film portrays six Jewish men and women living in Berlin without showing their faces. This decision to avoid identifying them is not merely a protective measure, but part of the artistic concept. The camera stays close, but never reveals too much. It observes movements, gestures and living spaces, showing homes, workplaces, family possessions and favourite spots in the city. This creates intimate insights into the protagonists’ lives without revealing their identities.
