Through choreography and movement, Soyeon Shin and Po-Nien Wang explore the psychological dynamics underpinning the feminisation of technology. The two artists examine the ways in which bodies are represented, controlled and fetishised in today’s digital culture.

The idea arose from Soyeon’s earlier project, *The Dark Cloud*, which explored the hidden materiality of the internet: cables, data centres and its invisible infrastructures. During an early phase of research, the artists quickly became aware of the overwhelming number of female-coded images and voices in the virtual world. From AI influencers to animated idols, these digital women serve as an extension of the male gaze, fused with the logic of capitalist consumption. Soyeon and Po-Nien believe that this phenomenon not only reveals gender-specific power dynamics, but also a deep emotional need – the desire for control and security behind digital life.

*The Digital Skin* is a reflection on the power dynamics within the online world and an exploration of the potential for resistance in the digital age.
