Das Traumschiff: A Literary Reading on Dreams and Imagination

Concept and organization: Maik Gerecke. He’s not only an author and jazz musician—he also loves dreaming in every conceivable form. To expand his explorations from his own subconscious to the collective subconscious, he created the “Traumschiff” reading series in 2026.

Ahne, born in Berlin-Buch in 1968, is a trained offset printer. After the fall of the Berlin Wall, he became unemployed and failed his high school graduation exams twice while pursuing his education through adult education programs. Instead of becoming the head of a large company, he has been reading his own original works aloud on Sundays at the Reformbühne Heim & Welt since 1995. Five volumes of his “Dialogues with God” have been published to date, along with six short story collections, a poetry collection, a crime musical (co-written with Sedlmeir and Mareike Hube), and a novel. His latest book is titled “Stabil im Bus”. Ahne can crack walnuts with his right hand and wears clothes from his closet.

Isobel Markus studied library science and English and lives in Berlin as a freelance writer. She writes novels, short stories, and literary miniatures for the “Berliner Szenen” column in the *taz*. Her short stories have appeared in literary journals and anthologies; they were published as a two-part book series titled *Stadt der ausgefallenen Leuchtbuchstaben* (City of Unusual Neon Letters), and parts of them have been translated into Arabic (translator: Swar Malla). At Lettrétage Berlin, she initiated and curated the interdisciplinary event series “Berliner Salonage,” which was funded by the Senate Department for Culture and Europe in 2022 and 2023.
