with Sainte Nicole and Chien Méchant
On the longest day of the year, June 21st, the Kesselhaus celebrates music, the joy of life, and the summer solstice with everyone! The idea behind the Fête de la Musique, which dates back to the 1981 initiative of the then French Minister of Culture, Jack Lang, is to welcome summer together with musicians in public spaces.
This is also the case on the grounds of the Berlin Kulturbrauerei. At the closing event of the Fête in the Kesselhaus, we will present new sounds and innovative works from France starting at 11 p.m. This year's guests will be Sainte Nicole and Chien Méchant.
Admission is free, as always.
Nous aimons la musique - let's celebrate this day of music and life together!
Sainte Nicole
Like a Caravaggio painting where light and shadow meet, Sainte Nicole loves contrasts. Behind her ambitious facade lies a voice that transports us into the depths of her soul – gentle, captivating, and full of questions.
Her debut EP, "Vanité," was released in March 2024 and explores the search for identity, belonging, and sexuality. Musically, she moves between pop, deep bass, electronic beats, and vintage synths – inspired by artists such as Billie Eilish, Polo&Pan, and Mylène Farmer.
The release garnered her over a million streams, a sold-out launch show at the Boule Noire, and placements on renowned playlists. Sainte Nicole works independently but has built a dedicated team. With over 30 concerts a year – including at Trianon, the Delta Festival, and Les Trois Baudets – she captivates audiences with her strong stage presence and the dynamic support of her duo Chillroom.
Chien Méchant
Perhaps this warning is no longer necessary – because behind the fence lurks not a vicious dog, but a duo that delights with their joie de vivre and musical wit. Gabriel – known as a wild drummer (for Terrenoire, among others) – meets Facundo, the synth wizard with a penchant for unusual shirts.
Together they are Chien Méchant: two friends who met at the hairdresser's and at school and now combine groove, funk, rock, and synthpop in a unique way. Their first, self-titled EP release revealed the breadth of their musical influences and paved the way for their upcoming debut album – a cinematic work inspired by John Carpenter, produced with Ouai Stéphane and GrandMarnier. Ten songs that playfully transcend genre boundaries – from the dancefloor anthem "Nuit Blanche" to the introspective synth ballad "Sens Contraire." Live, the band is an experience: flashing synths, hypnotic beats, and an invitation to dance.
The French Night is a collaboration between the Centre national de la musique, the Fête de la musique and the Kesselhaus in the Kulturbrauerei.
