The gay and lesbian community gets the Advent season in Berlin underway with the LGBTQIA* Winterdays and sends out a message for more openness and tolerance.
Sheltered from the wind and rain beneath the elevated railway, Christmas Avenue has long since established itself as a popular hotspot in the run-up to Christmas. Here, you can experience the vibrant life of the capital’s LGBTQIA+ community first-hand.
Stalls tempt visitors with decorative items, arts and crafts, jewellery and fashionable accessories. Look forward to a colourful array of twinkling Christmas lights, a lively atmosphere and a selection of hot cocktails and culinary delights.
Making a stand together
Together with many figures from politics and the community, a stand is being taken here – with glittering lights and a lively atmosphere – against discrimination and exclusion. The aim is to create a special and safe space during the festive season where the whole community can feel at home – in the very spot that has been regarded as the gateway to Berlin’s Rainbow Quarter for a hundred years. From here, you can reach most of the scene’s bars and clubs quickly and easily.
A colourful Christmas market concept
The scene showcases itself at many colourful stalls. There’s also plenty of festive wonder to admire, as well as delicious street food, mulled wine and traditional Christmas treats. And, of course, you can also browse for unique gifts.
Christmas Avenue
Year after year, the gay and lesbian community heralds the season of goodwill in the run-up to Christmas with Christmas Avenue and its very special programme. From 23 November to 23 December 2026, associations, organisations and initiatives are invited to present their messages and their work to the public. In keeping with its ethos as a safe space for the queer community, traders and artists will be showcasing their offerings within the framework of liberal freedom of expression; as such, Christmas Avenue will only be accessible to those aged 16 and over.

Once again this year, the Christmas Avenue stage programme promises plenty of drag and glamour. Performers from the community – and, of course, friends of the LGBTQIA* community – will set the mood. Well-known DJs from Berlin’s LGBTQIA* club scene will be spinning the decks, serving up everything from pop to house beats.
- On the opening day, there are plenty of prizes to be won at Drag Bingo with Margot Schlönzke.

- Opening hours: Monday to Thursday from 4 pm to 10 pm, Friday to Sunday from 3 pm to 10 pm
- Admission is free; visitors must be aged 16 or over
