After twenty years, the farmer Theresa and the journalist Stefan meet again by chance. But the reunion between the two ends in disaster. Because it quickly becomes clear that they now see the world completely differently. Whether climate policy, gender language, racism or other explosive topics: it is as if the trenches of an entire divided nation run right through their relationship.

This raises the question of whether every person today is obliged to choose a side. Are there any similarities or overlaps between the worlds, which often couldn't be more opposite? And are friendship and love able to bridge the gap between conflicting views and opposing attitudes?

The highly topical novel “Between Worlds” by Juli Zeh and Simon Urban tells of the destructive power of an uninhibited discourse, of the unbridled exchange of blows between two people who are about to lose something crucial: the freedom to determine who they are.
