Orally transmitted secular and sacred songs from different regions of Italy. They originated in the everyday village life of the people; they were sung at work, at weddings, funerals, but also at evening get-togethers and festivals.
They are powerful, emotional, mostly polyphonic songs that tell of women and men, of love and suffering, of their joy, their poverty, their spirituality and longing, of hard work, deprivation and the struggle for better living conditions.
20 women participate in a workshop with the singer, composer and specialist in Italian polyphony, Xavier Rebut, and present the result of the intense weekend.
Participants: Xavier Rebut (workshop leader), workshop choir, Annunziata Matteucci (choir director).
