Directed by Ivan Uryvskyi, Hryhorij Kwitka-Osnovjanenko's satirical comedy is brought to the stage in an impressive adaptation. The play combines Ukrainian folklore with contemporary themes such as power, honesty and the pursuit of women's equality.
The minimalist stage design by Tetjana Owsiitschuk, the concise choreography by Olha Semioschkina and the music inspired by Ukrainian folk songs, interpreted by Susanna Karpenko, create an atmosphere full of depth and authenticity.
This timeless story combines humour with the archetypal conflict between light and darkness, and inspires with its cultural and emotional expressiveness. A fascinating theatrical experience that touches the audience with its modernity and traditional roots in equal measure.
