What traces do people leave in other people? In Ralph Michael Stieber's volume of poetry »We Were Here« (2024), pop-cultural references and existential questions are interwoven into a poetic exploration of life. The poems tell of the formative power of music, youthful anger and the magic and loneliness of big cities.

Icons such as The Clash, Sonic Youth, Beethoven, Buster Keaton and Kurt Cobain serve Ralph Michael Stieber as emotional starting points for his search for identity in a chaotic world.

That evening, Nora Linnemann and Ralph Michael Stieber will read from the volume together and then talk about the creation of the book, its themes and how poetry can be both personal and universal.
