The oratorio "We are Earth", commissioned by the Foundation for Cultural Renewal to accompany Pope Francis' environmental encyclical "Laudato si'", will be premiered by the Berlin Staatskapelle under the direction of composer Gregor A. Mayrhofer at the Philharmonie Berlin on Sunday, 13 November 2022. The Philharmonie was chosen as the performance venue not least in order to be able to easily meet possible pandemic-related requirements.

The benefit concert will be opened by cellist and environmental activist Tanja Tetzlaff, who will play works by Johann Sebastian Bach and Camille Saint-Saëns. Afterwards, the oratorio "We are Earth" will be performed.

Tickets for the benefit concert on 13 November 2022 can be ordered at a price of 25 or 50 euros from the Berlin State Opera by calling 030/20354555 or online here. Pupils and students receive a 50 percent discount.

The proceeds of the benefit concert will go to the Eben!Holz e.V. association, which works to preserve rare woods in Madagascar that are needed for musical instrument making. The association was founded in 2013 with the support of the musicians of the Staatskapelle Berlin.
