With the rise of National Socialism, many sports clubs—including numerous rowing clubs—expelled their Jewish members. How do we commemorate this history today?
The focus of the evening is the Berlin rowing club “Welle-Poseidon,” whose boathouse was once located on the regatta course—just a few steps away from today’s Grünau Water Sports Museum. Its members refused to exclude their Jewish friends and clubmates. They chose to stand in solidarity with one another.
“Water, Waves, Resistance” combines historical narratives with songs about sailors, the sea, ships, Lake Wannsee, and Berlin to create an evening of remembrance, humanity, and moral courage.
The Grünau Water Sports Museum and the Ortsverein Grünau e.V. cordially invite you to this musical and literary narrative.
