The Hoffmeister Quartet specialises in the music of the Viennese Classical period and forgotten composers of that era, performing on gut strings and in accordance with period performance practice.
This concert focuses on composers who carried the tradition of the Viennese string quartet of around 1800 to the major cities of Eastern Europe.
The programme features works by Joseph Elsner, Franz Gebel and Anton Ferdinand Titz, whose musical journeys took them from Vienna via Lviv to Warsaw, Moscow and St Petersburg.
A concert evening that combines musical discoveries with an insight into European music history.
Performers:
Hoffmeister Quartet: Christoph Heidemann and Ulla Bundies – violin, Aino Hildebrandt – viola, and Martin Seemann – cello
- In cooperation with the German Cultural Forum for Eastern Europe
