Gestapo, SS and Reich Security Main Office in Wilhelm- and Prinz-Albrecht-Straße

The permanent exhibition “Topography of Terror” focuses on the key institutions of the SS and the police during the “Third Reich” and the crimes they committed throughout Europe.

The exhibition panels primarily feature historical photographs, supplemented by introductory texts and brief quotations. Beneath the panels are display cases containing documents organized by theme.

The exhibition is divided into five chapters:

1. The Nazi Seizure of Power

2. Institutions of Terror (SS and Police)

3. Terror, Persecution, and Extermination in the Reich Territory

4. The SS and the Reich Security Main Office in the Occupied Territories

5. The End of the War and the Postwar Period

Audio Guides

An audio tour in 22 languages is available for the permanent exhibition “Topography of Terror” in the building. Audio guide devices, including headphones, can be borrowed free of charge from the visitor service desk.

Alternatively, the audio guide can also be used on your own smartphone via the freely accessible Wi-Fi. In this case, you will need your own headphones.

The rental devices also offer a version in easy-to-read language, an audio version with audio-descriptive supplements, and a video tour in German Sign Language.

An audio guide in German and English is also available for the railing tour and can be borrowed free of charge from the visitor service desk.

Accessibility

The exhibitions are accessible to people with disabilities. Paid parking spaces for wheelchair users are available in the Gropius Bau parking lot. Wheelchairs can also be borrowed free of charge at the visitor services desk. We recommend requesting one in advance at the visitor services desk.
