Young and old and everyone in between are invited to sit down at the table to eat and talk together. This edition is dedicated to fairy tales and storytelling traditions as intangible cultural heritage. The participants talk about the unifying power of storytelling, question material about role models and world designs and look beyond the European horizon.

The participants talk to the writer Holly-Jane Rahlens about contemporary narrative styles and modern fairy tales. She reads an excerpt from her book "Future Fairy Tales. Stories from Another World", which was nominated for the German Youth Literature Prize 2023 - Youth Jury Prize. Here the audience meets well-known fairy tale characters in a distant future who develop from helpless princesses into clever heroines.

The second guest is fairy tale researcher Prof. Dr. Mensah Wekenon Tokponto from West Africa, Benin, and member of the European Fairy Tale Society. He gives an insight into his work and talks about fairy tale motifs in intercultural comparison.

Maria Carmela Marinelli will immerse us in the fascinating world of oral storytelling with her own story. She will also talk about her experiences as a storyteller and how her art form can be used in the context of schools or adult education.

TOGETHER AT THE TABLE

The series "Together at the Table" is about trying something new. The series invites young and old and everyone in between to sit down at the table with the team to eat and talk together. Also at the table are the topics that concern everyone.

Each edition of this series focuses on a topic, supplemented by input from invited experts, moderated by Geraldine Mormin.
