As part of the residency program "Artists at the Cathedral", which is launched every two years by the Brandenburg Cathedral Monastery in collaboration with the St. Matthäus Foundation, the Italian artist Jacopo Dal Bello will present his works in the exhibition "ZEITWENSTER. Der Cathedral in the digital present".

This exhibition takes place from September 22nd. until October 31, 2023 in the Green House (Burghof 4, 14776 Brandenburg an der Havel) on the grounds of the Cathedral Monastery. At the same time, visitors can admire the results of the artist's joint work with the art class of the Evangelical High School at Brandenburg Cathedral in a student exhibition.

As a scholarship holder at Brandenburg Cathedral in the summer of 2023, Berlin artist Jacopo Dal Bello used AI-controlled software to merge the centuries-old cultural history of this place with the digital present as a trained painter. In an impressive way, he has transferred the entire cathedral website with its archives into an object made of printed foil in real space.

Dal Bello shows the baroque pulpit on a screen as it is processed by a 3D program and immersed in the flow of time. He uses translation apps to translate medieval inscriptions on tombstones into today's language. He also records songs and organ sounds in order to process them further. In an analytical and poetic way, Dal Bello translates selected Christian sources into contemporary symbols.

The opening of both exhibitions will take place on September 21st, 2023 at 6 p.m. and will be led by Dr. Marianne Schröter, head of culture, education and science at the cathedral monastery, and Pastor Hannes Langbein, director of the St. Matthäus Foundation, welcomed. The curator Dr. Katja Blomberg will present the concept and work of Jacopo Dal Bello.

Admission to the exhibition is free.
