Putting people at the centre

Our social and economic transformation is being driven ever faster by the fourth industrial revolution. The driver of this revolution is artificial intelligence, in which humans and machines are working ever more closely together.

To ensure the digital independence of EU citizens, the European Union plans to regulate the development and operation of AI through legislation in order to make values, laws and standardisation trustworthy, human-centric and sustainable. Human autonomy, harm prevention, fairness and explainability are the ethical principles on which recently discussed legislative proposals are based. These are aimed at risk-based regulation, which also provides for sanctions in the event of non-compliance. In addition, risky AI applications must fulfil certain standards.

If you want to use AI in a future-proof manner, it is essential to prepare for this in the EU internal market.
