He is considered the grand master of the Renaissance: the Roman conductor Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina influenced several generations with his sophisticated vocal works.

At the end of the SPAM festival, the RIAS Chamber Choir Berlin and its chief conductor Justin Doyle will come to St. Nikolai Spandau and honor Palestrina's 500th birthday with his wonderful Song of Songs motets.

The program will be supplemented with a cappella works by other composers who were directly or indirectly influenced by Palestrina.
