The Orchestra of Berliner Musikfreunde, founded in 1866, is the oldest amateur orchestra in Berlin and the fourth oldest in Germany. The ensemble is an integral part of Berlin's amateur orchestra landscape.
In a city like Berlin, which is known worldwide for its outstanding music culture, it is not always easy for amateur orchestras to attract attention. The orchestra is all the more pleased that its concerts regularly fill renowned concert halls such as the Philharmonie. The OBM always succeeds in inspiring people to enjoy classical music who would otherwise have little access to this genre.
