After The Sound of Hans Zimmer & John Williams has repeatedly celebrated great successes since 2018, the concert series returns with a new program in 2023.

The Sound of Hans Zimmer & John Williams combines musical masterpieces of cinema history with anecdotes from the Hollywood dream factory in a unique concert experience dedicated to the great themes and sounds of the two icons of film music.
Due to Jan Köppen's scheduling conflicts, Daniel Boschmann will host instead when the Deutsches Filmorchester Babelsberg, together with the Charité Chor Berlin and the Neuer Kammerchor Berlin, perform the unmistakable music of Hans Zimmer and John Williams at the Friedrichstadt-Palast in Berlin on April 17, 2023.
With Christian Schumann, a renowned conductor and film music specialist will take over the musical direction and, together with the ensembles, present a foray through the most popular soundtracks of the legendary film composers - from Star Wars and Harry Potter to Interstellar and Gladiator to The Lion King, E.T. and many more.
Two Hollywood composers, each with their own style Hans Zimmer and John Williams are distinguished by both their very own distinctive tonal language and stylistic range, and in this way create striking melodies that everyone knows. While Zimmer evokes emotion with surreal harmonies and richly colored soundscapes, Williams touches with the essence of his memorable motifs and melodies. His scores focus on large orchestral arrangements, while Zimmer also employs modern and electronic sound elements in his compositions.
For their unforgettable compositions, both have not only been celebrated by audiences, but have also won several prestigious awards. For example, Hans Zimmer received his first Oscar® nomination in 1989 for the soundtrack of the film Rain Man, won an Oscar ten years later for the score of The Lion King, and in 2022 for the brand new, avant-garde sound cosmos of Dune. In addition, Zimmer is the winner of three Grammys and three Golden Globes. With numerous nominations and awards, John Williams is one of the world's most influential and successful composers. With 52 Oscar® nominations to date, the US American is the most nominated person in Hollywood history after Walt Disney and won the coveted prize, for example, for his music to films such as Jaws (1976), Star Wars (1978), E.T. (1983) and Schindler's List (1994), as well as 25 Grammys.
