The founding of the Hanns Eisler University of Music Berlin dates back to 1950, when it was founded under the name German University of Music. Today it offers training opportunities for around 500 students at two central locations in Berlin. One of these locations is in the immediate vicinity of the Konzerthaus Berlin at Gendarmenmarkt.
