A classic of German silent films in the Evangelical Church: “The Golem, How He Came into the World” (1920, directed by Paul Wegener) is one of the most important expressionist films of early cinema. He tells a story from the legends surrounding the Prague rabbi Judah Löw, who recognizes from the position of the stars that there is great danger for the Jewish ghetto. He then decides to bring the golem to life, which is supposed to avert disaster.
The film music will be heard live, played by church musician Jakob Schaefer.
