Electronica EP launch of ‘Short Wave Listening - poems & prophecies’
'Shortwave listening - poems & prophecies' is the new electronica EP by producer, composer, percussionist and curator RENU (Renu Hossain), inspired by the encounter with poet, writer and activist XamQues from Namibia.

Her story is:
The largest meteorite, HOBA, landed on earth 80,000 years ago. From this it emerges that those who live in the country where it landed, like XamQues, have parts of the _space rock_ in their DNA. The EP is an attempt to communicate with cosmic spaces, with our past and our shared atoms and molecules.
The music - 303's, full synths, the famous OB-E synth can be heard in every track. A rich music production and a little wink towards epochal orchestral electronic composers. 'Shortwave listening - poems & prophecies' will be released on 1 November 2024.

Renu Hossain (RENU) is a London-born Bengali artist based in Berlin and London. She is a composer, producer, tabla player, percussionist and curator. Originally a percussionist with Grace Jones, she learned from percussionists in India, Brazil, Spain and Cuba and has composed for choreography, theatre and film. In late 2017, RENU released 'They Dance in the Dark' to great acclaim. Her album has been celebrated by The Quietus, Art Forum Magazine, BBC Radio 6 and BBC 3 Late Junction.
For 20 years, RENU has studied percussion with masters from India, Cuba, Spain and Brazil. RENU is a tabla student of Sri Chiranjit Mukherjee (senior student of Kumar Bose) and follows the classical learning method of “Guru shisha parampara”, which translates to “journey of the master student”.
RENU is currently producing filmy electronica and experimental impressions. The year 2024/2025 brings a plethora of new work.
“Short Wave Listening – Poems and Prophecies” with Xamues is the first music release by Renu Hossain after a break of a few years.
