The guided tour introduces a range of concepts: slow fashion and ethically produced clothing, upcycling and local craft businesses, regionally sourced food, and suppliers of natural cosmetics.
It addresses questions such as: How are our consumption habits changing? What alternatives are there to mass production and the throwaway culture? And what ideas are Berlin-based companies already putting into practice today?
The tour is designed as a journey of discovery through a neighbourhood where many people are experimenting with new approaches to fashion, food and everyday culture.
Discover:
1.) Slow fashion stands for sustainable, mindful and ethical fashion. It represents a shift in consciousness – a contemporary response to the mass production of fast fashion. It is about quality and individuality, about appreciation and a change in mindset. Slow fashion also includes ‘fair fashion’, i.e. the whole concept of ‘fairly produced’ and ‘fairly traded fashion’, as well as ideas such as clothes swapping and clothes hire.
2.) Upcycling in its many forms; with a return to local, artisanal production of clothing, hats, bags, furniture, jewellery, etc.
3.) Slow Food; this refers to regionally produced food that is harvested, processed or manufactured in the area surrounding Berlin, such as the staple food: bread.
4.) Natural cosmetics: vegan, Ayurvedic, pH-neutral, free from microplastics, resource-efficient and waste-reducing.
They all share a common goal: to contribute to an environmentally conscious and forward-looking society.
