Four lectures and a discussion on Jewish-queer life stories
The Mitte Museum invites you to an evening of discussion about people who were both: queer and Jewish.
Through talks by four speakers, the event will shed light on Jewish-queer life stories from 1933 to 1945 and beyond.
Hani Portner (they/them) will speak about the lesbian Jewish painter Gertrude Sandmann and her survival in Berlin.
Jake Schneider (he/him) will explore the connection between queerness, the Yiddish language and culture.
Paige Harouse (she/her) will discuss the realities of life for gay and lesbian Jewish men and women at Sachsenhausen concentration camp, and
Rafael Nasemann (he/him) presents the remembrance project ‘Queer Heroes’, which, amongst other things, commemorates the lives of many queer Jewish people in Berlin.
Afterwards, we invite you to join us for a discussion.
The event will be held in spoken German.
