Special tour with Rudolf G. Scharmann, former director of the castle
More than any other Brandenburg-Prussian residential and garden complex, Charlottenburg in particular was shaped by the princesses. From 1695 onwards, almost all the apartments were furnished and garden areas laid out here.
On various guided tours led by the palace’s former director, Rudolf G. Scharmann, you will gain insights into their lives.
Princess Elisabeth of Bavaria (1801–1873) was the great lover at the side of Frederick William IV, the ‘Romantic on the Throne’. Only a few remember this unassuming yet deeply devout queen for her tireless social and charitable work.
