8th International Dance Festival for young audiences
The aim of the festival is to give children and young people access to contemporary dance, to arouse their curiosity and to inspire them for dance. The multi-layered stage programme is made up of various aesthetic approaches from the international and contemporary dance scene from Belgium, France, Great Britain, Ireland, the Netherlands, Austria and Germany.
With the cooperation partners FELD - Theater für junges Publikum, HAU Hebbel am Ufer, jugendtheaterwerkstatt Spandau, TANZKOMPLIZEN im Podewil, Theater an der Parkaue and Uferstudios, the PURPLE festival offers a professional stage programme for various age groups from 6 years upwards as well as discussion formats and free workshops for school classes in cooperation with the participating artists. There will also be a free workshop programme for teachers and young people!
The opening of the festival will take place on 20 January 2024 at 19:00 at HAU Hebbel am Ufer. There will be the German premiere of Chotto Desh by the internationally renowned Akram Khan Company from London.
Festival venues this year are:
- the FELD - Theatre for Young Audiences (Schöneberg),
- the HAU Hebbel am Ufer (Kreuzberg),
- the jugendtheaterwerkstatt Spandau,
- the TANZKOMPLIZEN in Podewil (Mitte),
- the Theater an der Parkaue (Lichtenberg),
- the Uferstudios (Wedding)
- and Berlin schools.
PURPLE - International Dance Festival for Young Audiences is funded by the Senate Department for Culture and Social Cohesion with support from the Capital Cultural Fund.
