With over 4,000 concerts across Europe, he is one of the most popular Italian songwriters. Pollina impresses with his unbridled creativity, with which he has continued to surprise his many loyal fans for more than 35 years.
Be it lyrical ballads, poetic protest songs or rocking songs: Pollina's language always remains sensitive and delicate. In addition to his concerts with his band, he has also worked with countless international artists, such as: Georges Moustaki, Franco Battiato, Inti Illimani, Konstantin Wecker, Rebekka Bakken, Charlie Mariano and Werner Schmidbauer & Martin Kälberer.
The new album "Canzoni segrete" is about the power of music and the consequences of prosperity, about the strange pandemic and changing passions, about dreams, hopes, disappointments. The songs have - such as "Leo", a song from 1994 was created as an adaptation of a French original by George Moustaki - its roots in the past decades, but predominantly in the months between January 2019 and June 2020. They were recorded in studios in Italy, France, Germany and Switzerland, a comprehensive project that Pippo Pollina demanded as a composer and poet as well as as a thinker, musician and arranger.
Pippo Pollina cheers and argues, chats and reflects, in a voice that is rough and at the same time sonorous, sometimes a touch laconic, but never without the fundamental reverence for the beauty of sounds and the power of art. Because music is a gift. This is the basis, despite all doubts, for a sophisticated, mature and coherent album that Pippo Pollina will bring to the stages in 2022 and 2023.
