A Museum Visit for People with Dementia and their Companions (in German)
Experience a cozy and inspiring afternoon at the Jewish Museum Berlin! To start, we'll be serving coffee and freshly baked braided bread. Challah, Hebrew for braided bread, is eaten on Friday evening, the day Shabbat begins.
During this culinary delight, everyone will get to know each other, encounter their first hands-on objects, and discuss what Friday evening means to them and which yeast cake is the tastiest.
Afterward, they'll visit the "Pictures Make People" exhibition room and view three 19th-century paintings together. They'll discuss either the topics "Chess in the Salon" or "Celebrations."
On the topic of "Chess in the Salon," everyone will immerse themselves in 18th-century Berlin, learn about the philosopher Moses Mendelssohn and salon culture, and explore the role of the game. The paintings on the theme of "Celebrations" immerse you in a private family celebration or a lavish party.
Musical highlights and touchable objects complement the exhibition. Seating is provided.
The event is held in cooperation with the Alzheimer Society Berlin e.V.
